Psycho-Oncology Projects

In cancer treatment, the concepts of physical and mental well-being should be discussed together. Long-term treatment uncovers difficult emotions and causes changes in emotions and behavior. Although the reactions that occur during the course of treatment vary for each person, the treatment affects the quality of life, routines, and social life of the child and his or her family. Psychosocial effects such as depression, anxiety, fear, sadness, anger, despair, and behavioral disorders can be observed during the course of the treatment.

The clinical psychologists of the foundation carry out individual therapy and psychoeducational projects with the children and their families. The projects have supportive and preventive contents designed according to the current schools of psychology in different subjects such as coping with cancer treatment, empathy, loss and mourning, first hospitalization, and setting limits with children.
